Day5 in the Philippines

Day5 (13/10/2017)

Our city tour day, we began our wonderful day with Filipino friends and Ms. Cortez (Elizabeth Cortez). Around 08.30 a.m. We got on the bus and looked around the city that surrounded by high and low buildings. Some building was on the construction, some completed and ready to visit. Ms. Cortez told us everything about Manila and Philippines; she explained the important places that we should know. We went to the Intramuros, the community of the Filipino people, it was very exciting.

We visited the San Agustine church that established in the year 1500 (around 447 years ago). We did not go inside because we had to go to the next places. We arrived the Fort Santiago Park, and visited The Rizal Shrine Park, the national hero monument, he is Mr. Jose Rizal, he was very clever, intelligent and knowledgeable. Ms. Cortez told us about him. We knew anything about him we knew his history, we knew what he reclaimed. I admire in his intrepidity.

Around 11.00 a.m. We aimed to the mall of Asia, the largest mall in Asia. We were checked before getting inside the mall for safety. Then, we walked across from the mall and visited the Conrad Luxury Hotel. It was very surprising; it was luxurious and wonderful hotel. “I am the one of members in here, you can go to visit”, Ms. Cortez said. We were fortunate to visit there.
Then, we walked back to the mall again by shortcut and we separated to have lunch and then come back to the meeting point at 2 p.m.
After that, we were shopping in the souvenir shop. I bought a lot of souvenirs because in this mall is quite cheap. I love it. We spent about 3 hours in the mall.

Finally, we came back to Domus dormitory. We had the dinner together. We discussed about what we gained from each day and what we should do for the next day. It made us closer. We looked like the big family, we warned, and helped each other.  That is the reality of team work. Thank you

Day4 in the Philippines

Day4 (12/10/2017)
My impressive day

I got up early morning (5 a.m.) I took a shower hastily because we would go to visit the community. Then, around 07.00 a.m. ma’am Blink came to take us. We took the bus for the journey. At first, I got on the bus; I was surprised because there were many students on the bus (nursing students) would go to join us. Mr. Jayson Puzal (the head of community health nursing) told us about the schedule of today and introduced himself, and then he told us to introduce ourselves. When we finished, nursing students of UST introduced themselves.
Then, we talked together, somebody gave me a snack, I teased them by telling them “Everyone! I made this snack and I took it for all of you “and they laughed so hard. “You are a humorous man”, they said. I asked them about what the local special dishes in the Philippines that I should try. They listed for me; we took around three hours for traveling. Then, we were talking together while traveling.
We arrived the RHU-ll clinic is the clinic of Floridablanca district or they called the clinic of the town. We walked inside the rooms and listened to the teacher about this clinic. She said that some people who get the disease or injured, they will come here for getting treating also the minority “Aeta” will come RHU-ll as well. Then, Mr. Jayson explained about the level of treating program that arranged by UST. Then, he asked for a volunteer to practice measuring blood pressure. Then, we went to the municipal hall of Floridablanca, Pampanga to meet the leader of this community, Hon. Darwin R. Manalansan. But he got an accident schedule, we missed him. Gladly, his secretary was very kind. She treated us the lunch with Ma’am Blik and Mr. Jayson.

Around 1 p.m. We aimed to Pampanga to try the Boodle fight; it is the local traditional eating with hands. There are three types of foods that we tried (Balisusong, Fried Chicken,
Sisig, Fried Tilapia).    Then, we visited the local family to talk with them and take care of some patients. My friends said that we can cook them some foods or clean their houses. So, before leaving their families somebody gave us a lot of long green beans, I appreciated it.

Then, around 14.00 we went to visit the “KAPATAN or AETA “minority group. At first, we saw them; they were holding the Thai national flag. I am surprised that they prepared a performance show for us. They cannot speak English, but they can understand Tagalog Language. They invited us to join them for dancing. And I joined them, we danced together. After that, we gave some presents to reward them for showing us a performance show. Then, we took some pictures together. Then, we went back to Domus dormitory; we took around three hours to come back UST.

I learned more things from today. I experienced about multicultural of Filipino.

I met many native people and tried to know their tradition. Thank you for today

Day3 in the Philippines

Day3 (11/12/2017)

It was a learning day. Around 09.00 a.m. We went to SAN MARTIN building for participating in first-aid class. I felt a little bit nervous because most of the audiences are adult and they also are teachers. The lecturers gave me a material, it looked like a scarf. Then, they shown us how to tie the cloth or scarf for the first aid. We learned about Basic Bandaging Techniques Open Phase Application. I played the part of a victim and my friends (Mr. Yoo, Ms. Anna) they were rescuers. I was helped with many situations such as getting burned by fire, broken of legs, hands, and arms. Impressively, I was at one of delegates to rescue a victim who got an accident from something and she could not move by lifting her to the stretcher and took her to the safe area. It was great of joining this class.

1.00 p.m. We went back to the San Martin building for learning English. We were provided by Ms. Cortez to participate English class with first year students (Nursing Students). It made me know that learning by using English in the class is very important all of the students in the class, they tried to answer the questions without worrying that it is correct or not. It seemed like they shared each other. The teacher started by reminding homework that she divided students in five groups. They presented about the Sample, Compound, Complex, and Compound Complex sentence. So, the representatives of each group went to the front of the classroom to present and discussed their topics. Then, she taught us about Formal and Informal words or sentences and she assigned the students in their groups to make a project as a trailer or a documentary. Then, the class was over.

Around 2 p.m. We went to take many pictures around UST because we were free, and we went back Domus dormitory for taking some rest.
Enjoyably, 4 p.m. we went to visit the SM City, San Lazaro (Super Mall), by taking a jeep and paid seven pesos for the journey. We walked around and had a dinner together at Joilibee. Then, we went back Domus dormitory.

Finally, I think today was a great day. We joined classes and learned more things. I experienced to study about the first aid. It was marvelous to learn English with foreign friends ever.
